The objective for this project was to create a booklet that held the classifications of typefaces: Script Cursive, Decorative, Old Style, Traditional, Modern, Egyptian, and Sans Serif. I had to research the history of each typeface and present it in a comprehensive and educational way.
Actual Booklet
The first part of the project I tackled was the design of the booklet itself. I wanted it to be unique instead of a simple booklet. I decided on a waterfall design so that all the categories could be seen from the cover and could be easily flipped to instantly. The set up was a bit challenging as the document had to be set up a specific way and I had to organize the booklet strategically so that the smallest pages didn’t look crowded compared to the bigger pages. Looking this way, I decided to put Script Cursive and Decorative on the smallest pages since they did not have as much information as the other sections.
The research was a big part of this project and I was able to find websites that talked about all of the font types so that I could have the same information for each page like the special characteristics that distingished each type apart from others and the history of how each came to be.
I also wanted to have a section breaking down the Sans Serif fonts since it is such a broad category. This was a bit tricky to tie into the rest of the booklet but I used similar clors derived from my main Sans Serif page and designed it based on the cover an it tied in well.
